The Escea DF990 Gas Fireplace has been designed for homeowners who want the timeless character of a traditional fireplace with the innovation and efficiency of modern gas technology. As the largest and tallest model in the DF Series, the DF990 creates an impressive visual statement with its expansive glass viewing area and beautifully realistic flame.
Designed and manufactured in New Zealand, the DF990 takes inspiration from the proportions of a traditional open fireplace while incorporating Escea’s advanced Powered Direct Vent technology, Smart Heat control and room-sealed combustion system. Whether you’re restoring an existing chimney, renovating a character home or designing a contemporary feature wall, the DF990 offers exceptional warmth, architectural style and installation flexibility.
Premium Fuel Bed Options
Every home has its own style, which is why Escea has designed the DF990 around an incredibly realistic Traditional Log Fuel Bed.
The taller firebox allows for a deeper, more authentic log arrangement, complete with glowing embers and beautifully layered flames that closely replicate the appearance of a traditional wood fire—without the mess or maintenance.

Why We Love the Escea DF990
At Haus Collective, the Escea DF990 is the fireplace we recommend when clients want to recreate the feeling of a traditional open fireplace without sacrificing efficiency or convenience. Its taller proportions set it apart from most landscape fireplaces, creating a commanding feature that naturally draws your attention to the flame.
Unlike wider linear fireplaces, the DF990 has a more classic architectural presence, making it equally at home in Hamptons, Modern Farmhouse, Coastal, Contemporary and even heritage-inspired homes. The generous glass height allows the flame to dance through a beautifully stacked log fuel bed, producing one of the most authentic gas fire presentations available today.
Another reason we love the DF990 is its versatility. While it looks perfectly suited to replacing an old masonry fireplace, it’s equally impressive in a brand-new build. Escea’s Powered Direct Vent system provides exceptional flexibility during installation, allowing builders and designers to position the fireplace in locations that would traditionally be difficult to achieve.
With Smart Heat Wi-Fi control, outstanding energy efficiency and up to 8.6kW of heat output, the DF990 combines timeless aesthetics with modern technology, delivering exceptional comfort throughout the cooler months.
For homeowners looking to create a fireplace that feels both classic and contemporary, the Escea DF990 offers an unmatched combination of elegance, performance and realism. It’s a fireplace that doesn’t simply heat a room—it becomes the feature that defines it.
