Natural Stone Sealers & Cleaners Brisbane

Sealing your natural stone is not optional — it’s the step that determines how your stone looks and performs for the next decade. At HAUS Collective we stock a complete range of penetrating impregnator sealers, colour enhancing sealers, salt protection sealers and natural stone cleaners. Every product in our sealer range is matched to the stone types we sell — so you get the right product for your specific stone, not a generic off-the-shelf solution.

Why Sealing Matters — What Our Team Has Learned

The most common call we get after a stone installation is from someone whose stone has stained, discoloured or started absorbing moisture — and in almost every case, the stone wasn’t sealed or was sealed with the wrong product. A surface coating — the kind you brush on and can see on the stone — is not the same as a penetrating impregnator sealer. Surface coatings sit on top of the stone and can peel, yellow and trap moisture over time. A penetrating impregnator soaks into the stone’s pores and creates an invisible barrier from within. It doesn’t change the appearance of the stone — it just protects it.

For Queensland’s outdoor applications — pool surrounds, driveways, facades, alfresco areas — we recommend resealing every 3 to 5 years depending on exposure. For interior applications in lower traffic areas, a single application after installation can last significantly longer. Our team can advise on the right sealer and maintenance schedule for your specific stone and application.

Sealers & Cleaners — Frequently Asked Questions

A penetrating impregnator sealer soaks into the pores of the stone and creates an invisible protective barrier from within. It does not change the appearance of the stone and cannot be seen once applied. A surface coating sits on top of the stone and creates a visible film or sheen. Surface coatings can peel, yellow and trap moisture over time — particularly in outdoor Queensland applications. We stock only penetrating impregnator sealers and recommend them for all natural stone applications both indoors and outdoors.

A colour enhancing sealer is a penetrating impregnator that deepens and enriches the natural colour of the stone as it protects it. It gives the stone a subtle wet-look appearance — bringing out the variation, veining and depth of the stone without a glossy surface finish. Colour enhancers are particularly popular on darker stones — basalt, bluestone, lavastone and darker granites — where they bring out the natural depth of the stone significantly. They provide the same protection as a standard natural finish sealer.

Yes — for pool surrounds, outdoor showers and coastal properties within 2km of salt air, we recommend a salt protection sealer. Salt crystallisation inside stone pores is one of the primary causes of stone surface damage in coastal and pool environments — a salt protection sealer is specifically formulated to resist this process. Standard penetrating sealers provide good moisture resistance but the salt protection formulation provides an additional layer of defence that is worth it in these applications.

For most penetrating impregnator sealers, the application is straightforward — clean the stone thoroughly and allow to dry completely, apply the sealer using a low pressure sprayer or soft brush, allow it to penetrate for the manufacturer’s specified dwell time (typically 5–15 minutes), then wipe off any excess before it dries on the surface. Never allow the sealer to dry on the surface as it will leave a hazy residue that is difficult to remove. Our team can walk you through the application process for any sealer we stock.

For outdoor applications in Queensland — pool surrounds, driveways, facades and alfresco areas — plan to reseal every 3 to 5 years depending on UV exposure, traffic and proximity to pool water or salt air. For interior applications in lower traffic areas, a single application after installation can last significantly longer. A simple water test tells you when resealing is due — drop a small amount of water on the stone surface. If it beads up, the sealer is still working. If it soaks in quickly, it’s time to reseal.
