Stone Wall Cladding Gold Coast

Natural stone cladding adds texture, depth and character to both interior and exterior spaces. The Gold Coast has a distinct design identity — contemporary coastal builds, Mediterranean-influenced homes and high-end renovations where the wall finish is as important as any other material choice. With over 50 natural stone wall claddings on display at our Hamilton showroom, we can help Gold Coast homeowners, builders and architects find the right stone for any project.

Which stone cladding suits your Gold Coast project?

Coastal & Mediterranean

The dominant aesthetic across Gold Coast residential design — warm beiges, natural timbers, arched openings and sun-drenched render. Travertine and limestone are the stones that define this look, their warm creams, honeys and earthy tones echoing the sand, the light and the coastal surroundings.

Salt air and coastal humidity mean material selection matters more on the Gold Coast than anywhere else. Our Classic Linen, Silver, Mila and Crete ranges are the most specified for this style — stones with proven performance in coastal Queensland conditions.

Contemporary Gold Coast

The Gold Coast’s newer builds and high-end renovations push into genuinely contemporary territory — clean facades, strong geometry and a sophisticated material palette that reflects the city’s modern architectural direction.

Clean-cut ledge and ashlar format stones in charcoals, blacks and dark greys make a bold statement on contemporary facades and interior feature walls. Our Blue Steel Random and Ledge, Dakar Random and Ledge and Kamari ranges are the go-to for this look across the Gold Coast.

Jacaranda House

Hinterland & Rustic

Beyond the coast, the Gold Coast hinterland — Tamborine Mountain, Canungra, Beechmont — has its own strong design aesthetic. Organic, earthy and rooted in the landscape.

Random and random ashlar cut stones in warm ochres, browns and mixed naturals suit hinterland homes, acreage properties and country-style builds beautifully. Our Bavarian, Colonial, Cradle Mountain, Calais and Capri ranges are the natural fit for this context.

From Our Team to Your Project

GOLD COAST NATURAL STONE

Stone wall cladding on the Gold Coast comes with one consideration that Brisbane projects don’t always face — the coastal environment. Salt air, high humidity and the UV intensity of a north-facing coastal facade demand stones and installation methods that are proven to perform. We’ve been supplying stone cladding to Gold Coast builders, architects and homeowners for over a decade and we know which products hold up and which ones don’t.

What sets HAUS apart isn’t just the range — it’s how we work with you. We love getting involved early, helping create material palettes from inception through to completion. Whether you’re specifying for a high-end new build on the coastal strip, pricing a hinterland renovation or choosing a feature wall stone for a Gold Coast apartment — we’re with you for the journey.

Our team has decades of experience across stone, design and construction, and they bring that knowledge to every conversation. We have direct import relationships, with quality control and product consistency our main focus.

We’re not formal people. Come in to our Hamilton showroom, pull samples off the wall, ask the hard questions. That’s what the showroom is for. Or call us — we’re happy to talk through your Gold Coast project before you make any decisions.

Stone cladding installs directly onto cement sheet, brick or blockwork — practical for new builds and renovations without major structural consideration. For coastal Gold Coast applications, exterior-grade adhesive and a quality penetrating sealer are non-negotiable.

The colour range moves from deep charcoals and blacks through to warm ochres, creams and linens — stones that sit naturally alongside timber, render, steel and glass.

GOLD COAST WALL CLADDING

Stone Wall Cladding — Installation and Buying Guide

Stone cladding can be fixed to most solid substrates including concrete, masonry, fibre cement sheet and brick. The surface must be structurally sound, clean, dry and free of dust, grease, paint or any loose material that would affect the adhesive bond. Brick or block externally is the most common substrate in Queensland residential builds. Internally cement sheet and tile underlay are the most common.

Natural stone cladding is cut directly from quarried stone — every piece is unique, with genuine variation in colour, texture and character that only comes from millions of years of geological formation. Manufactured stone veneer — sometimes called reconstituted stone or artificial stone — is made from concrete, aggregate and pigment moulded to resemble natural stone. It costs less upfront but lacks the depth, variation and longevity of genuine natural stone. At HAUS we stock only natural stone — if you want the real thing, that’s what you’ll find here.

For Gold Coast properties within 2km of the coast, stone density matters. Lavastone and basalt are the densest options and handle salt air penetration best. Travertine performs exceptionally well in coastal conditions when correctly sealed — it has been used on buildings in Mediterranean coastal climates for centuries. Limestone and lighter stones require quality sealing and periodic resealing in coastal Salt environments. We can advise on the right product for your specific Gold Coast location — beachfront, canal or hinterland all have different requirements.

Yes — for any external corner, purpose-made corner pieces are essential. Stone should never appear to be floating or cut at a corner — it looks unfinished and exposes the cut edge of the stone. Corner pieces are available for most styles in our range and are sold per lineal metre.

Use a bench saw with a wet diamond blade for clean, accurate cuts. An angle grinder can be used for small or awkward cuts but gives less control. To create natural looking edges, use an engineer’s hammer to chip the edges — this makes the lay look natural. Always wash the stone immediately after cutting to prevent cutting paste drying on the face of the stone. Follow current silica dust safety guidelines on site — appropriate PPE and dust suppression are required when cutting natural stone.

Seal after grouting is fully cured — typically 2 to 3 days after installation. Use a penetrating impregnator sealer, not a surface coating. Apply with a fine mist with a low pressure sprayer, allow to penetrate, then wipe off excess before it dries on the surface. For exterior Gold Coast applications — particularly coastal properties — plan to reseal every 5 to 10 years. We stock sealers suited to every stone type in our range.

Stone cladding is one of the most popular finishes for fireplace surrounds and feature walls in Australian homes. Natural stone is completely heat safe and will not discolour or degrade from radiant heat. If you’re building a new fireplace and looking for both the stone and the fireplace itself, visit our Hamilton showroom — we stock one of the largest ranges of fireplaces in South East Queensland alongside our full stone cladding range.

Measure the total wall area in square metres — height multiplied by width. Deduct any openings such as windows and doors. Add 20% to your total for cuts and wastage, and more for walls with lots of corners or complex shapes. Corner pieces are measured and ordered separately in lineal metres. If you’re unsure, send us your wall dimensions and we’ll calculate it for you.

HAUS COLLECTIVE STONE CLADDING STYLES

When searching for natural stone cladding they fall under many search phrases and cut styles. Terms to consider when doing your research are: Natural stone wall cladding, stone cladding, stone walling, stone veneer and stone facades. This can confuse somewhat however generally they are all the same thing. A thin rock face with a sawn back to adhere to the substrate.

The other thing to consider the lay style, whether you install it with a grout line or tight lay it. Grout lines can range from 5mm to 15mm wide, whether they are raked out or washed out to give you a vintage look.

Tight laying is to lay the stone with the appearance of stacked stone with no grout line visible. Both styles have a considerable effect on the overall appearance and should be discussed with you stone mason before laying the stone cladding.

The second thing to consider is the cut style of the stone below is a guide of the most popular stone veneer cut styles.
