Travertine Tiles & Pavers Brisbane

Travertine is one of the most versatile natural stones available — equally at home as a pool surround, an outdoor paver, an internal floor tile or a bathroom feature. Its naturally cool surface temperature, warm earthy tones and timeless character have made it the most specified natural stone in South East Queensland for over a decade.

Travertine is the stone we sell more of than any other — and for good reason. It performs exceptionally well in Queensland’s climate, it suits virtually every architectural style from Mediterranean to contemporary, and the grade range means there’s a travertine for every budget without compromising on quality.

Select grade gives you a clean, consistent, premium finish.

Antique grade gives you the character, the variation, the genuinely aged look that designers love for feature applications. We stock both, plus everything in between, and our team can help you choose the right grade for your specific application.

Travertine — Buying Guide

Travertine is graded based on consistency, hole-filling and surface finish. Select grade (sometimes called Premium or AAA grade) has minimal natural holes, consistent colour and a clean, refined appearance — the most popular choice for pool surrounds and contemporary applications. Standard or Commercial grade has more natural variation and unfilled holes — popular for a more rustic, characterful look. Antique grade has a tumbled, aged finish with significant texture and colour variation — chosen specifically for Mediterranean and traditional style projects.

Yes — this is one of travertine’s defining advantages for Queensland conditions. Travertine has naturally low thermal conductivity, meaning it absorbs and releases heat slowly compared to porcelain, concrete or darker stones. On a 35°C Brisbane summer day, a travertine pool surround stays significantly more comfortable underfoot than darker alternatives. This is the primary reason travertine remains the most specified stone for pool surrounds across South East Queensland.

French pattern (also called Versailles pattern) is a tile layout using four different rectangular tile sizes laid in a repeating pattern that creates a sophisticated, non-uniform appearance without the randomness of crazy paving. It’s a popular choice for large format flooring, courtyards and pool surrounds where a refined, structured but non-repetitive look is desired. We supply French pattern travertine pre-cut to the correct sizes and ratios for accurate laying.

Yes — travertine’s versatility is one of its biggest strengths. Honed and filled travertine suits internal floors, bathrooms and kitchens. Tumbled or brushed travertine with a textured surface is the right choice for external paving and pool surrounds where slip resistance matters. The same stone colour and character can be carried from inside to outside, creating visual continuity between internal and external living spaces — a popular design approach in Queensland homes built around outdoor entertaining.

Yes — travertine is a porous stone and should always be sealed with a penetrating impregnator sealer, both for internal and external applications. Sealing protects against staining, moisture penetration and, for pool surrounds, chlorine and salt exposure. Reseal every 2 to 3 years for high traffic or pool areas, and every 5 years for lower traffic internal applications. We stock sealers suited to travertine across our range.
